The building is a small school where the young schoolchildren of almere go once or twice a year to get education on nature, forestry, gardening but also science etc. It is placed in a relatively green environment. Some offices, a central hall and a workshop are part of the building as well. The floor plan is clear and open; the classes should be able to run supported by the children's own teacher, who is mostly a stranger to the building. The classrooms can be used separately; each has a wardrobe, kitchen, washing basin and an outdoor-exit. The building is mostly clad in Cor-ten steel, while the classrooms are finished in grey stucco. Both classrooms have a distinct direction and character. |
